Community Action Team
Youth Steering Committee
We are pleased to announce that we now have a Youth Steering Committee made up a group of volunteer students, ages 13 – 20 who live in Cumberland County.
The purpose of the Youth Steering Committee is to help Keeping Kids Safe stay informed and up to date on issues that affect youth today. We are looking for suggestions on presentations, topics, and trends. The Committee’s input is extremely important to help KKS effectively communicate, educate and raise awareness of subjects that are relevant today.
By being a part of the YSC, members will be a valuable asset to our communities. Committee members will work alongside KKS management and have direct contact with the management team. We will meet once a month to discuss current events and strategies on Crime Prevention in the lives of our youth.
The members of YSC must be dedicated to our philosophy and mission statement. The model we work under is CPTEA. Crime Prevention Through Education And Awareness.
Our Philosophy is: “Today I will keep a POSITIVE ATTITUDE, show RESPECT for myself, others, and my environment, act with INTEGRITY, DEDICATE myself to EXCELLENCE, and accept RESPONSIBILITY for my own behaviors.”
Our first meeting was held on February 1st. Our next one is scheduled for March 8 at 2:00 at Chicago Dogs. New members are welcomed. Interested parties should contact Michael Mercer at 207-699-8840. If you under 18 years of age – you must have parental consent.
